2 Temperature measurements were taken on the hard disk drives, the air in the chassis and the chamber while the unit was executing software to exercise the hard drives. The temperature measurements with the hard drive fan running were between 9.17 °C to 13.43°C cooler than the scenario where the hard drive cooling fan was removed. The consequence of the additional heat on the hard drives in the absence of the cooling fan will be reduced hard drive reliability. According to the Arrhenius Reaction Rate Model, predicted reliability reduction was between 26.5 to 33.9%.
